Nina Boberg-Fazlic, Paul Sharp (SDU) and Jacob Weisdorf (SDU) have received the Figuerola Prize 2013 for the paper ‘Survival of the richest? Social status, fertility and social mobility in England 1541-1824’. The prize is sponsored by the Figuerola Institute of Social Science History and is awarded biannually to the best article published in the European Review of Economic History during the last two years. The paper investigates and explains differences in fertility by socio-economic group in pre-industrial England and discusses the social and economic impact of the observed differences.
