Claus Thustrup Kreiner: new vice president of the world organization of Public Finance economists (IIPF).
IIPF is the academic institution for study and research on economic public policy topics, and the platform of choice for the establishment of contacts and exchange of opinions on policy matters among scholars of all nationalities.
The International Institute of Public Finance pushes economics to orientate towards the real world’s societies across the world by generating intellectual interchanges among all who research, teach or practice in the fields of Public Economics.
Claus Thustrup Kreiner is therefore the obvious candidate for the position as Vice President of IIPF due to not only his position as Director of Center for Economic Behavior and Inequality (CEBI) at the University of Copenhagen, but also his position as Area Director of Public Economics in the CESifo network.
Most of Claus’ research has centered on Public Economics. He was awarded the Richard Musgrave Lecture 2020 and gave a talk about the role of behavior for inequality and public policy. He also has practical policy experience from being member of the Danish 2008-2009 Tax Commission, co-chair of the Danish Economic Council (vismand) 2010-2014, member of an Expert Commission on the Design of a Green Tax Reform 2022-2024, and chair of an Expert Commission on Reforming the Danish Active Labor Market Policy 2023-2024.
The International Institute of Public Finance was founded in Paris in 1937 and has 600 members from 50 countries
